Lavender

‘Lavender’ has been described as difficult to grow.  The plants now being sold are likely a more vigorous selection from only one of the original plants registered under this name.  It has grown very well for me and is a prolific bloomer with flowers held well above attractive foliage.

Parentage: 2: lactiflora X coriacea

 

Flower: Color: light pinkish lavender with darker streaks throughout
Form: single, 2 rows of petals
Blooms: Week 4
Carpels: 4-5, light yellowish green
Stigmas: deep red, almost purple
Disc: white, edged pink, slightly visible
Stamens: filaments pink at base, shading to white
Plant: Habit: upright rounded bush
Foliage color: medium green leaves, red stems
Foliage form: pointed leaves, not lobed
Height: 37″ in 2021
